On top of the restored antique trunk is a "US Navy Retirement Shadow Box" from the wife of a Navy Captain, her name is Molly! He chose the trunk and designed the shadow box.

Note that the top trunk and shadow box were made for an Air Force retiree using a "low-profile" trunk as the base, so similar in style to a footlocker that it actually fits under the beds in a stateroom. The maximum use of space is achieved by using the space under the hood for the uniform styles worn and individual patches, including "dress blues" and these veteran ribbons.
Above is one of our restored antique trunks purchased by Matt who is a retired US Navy Senior Chief with a distinguished career, the trunk was repurposed and adapted to include all of his many medals and ribbons, edged weapons awarded to him, rate advances and chevrons, uniforms, along with his Master Knife! It was an honor and a pleasure to work with Matt and we wish him "peaceful air and a close sea" wherever life's journey takes him.
The above trunk #820 was purchased for a retired Husband and Wife both Navy Chief Petty Officers who wanted to share the US Navy Retirement shadow box display and restored trunk as they shared their lives. The work on the restored trunk and fitted shadow box is nice and correct. Note the lift up tray which will display a collection of their many "challenge coins". Numerous medals, ribbons, collar badges, patches, etc. are placed symmetrically for easy display and visibility. Both their retirement flags, badges, and ribbons are placed separately and equally under the hood. The trunk is lined with cedar planks, Nice!
Upper trunk number 835 was purchased for a retired Navy Chief Petty Officer. The work is outstanding and correct. Note the compartment for the Navy's "challenge coin" collection. Numerous medals, ribbons, collar badges, patches, etc. are placed symmetrically for easy display and visibility. The "US Navy Chief Petty Officers Creed" written on a wooden plaque is prominently displayed under the cover! It also looks like the trunk is lined with cedar planks, Nice!

The trunk above (#785) on the left was purchased and furnished as a shadow box for a retired US Navy F-18 fighter pilot by his partner as a retirement gift.
The trunk above left was purchased for a retired Air Force Master Chief by his wife as a retirement gift. Note the area on the tray where he keeps his extensive "Challenge Coin" collection!
The tree above right was purchased by the wife and children of a retired US Navy Chief Warrant Officer as a surprise at his retirement ceremony. The tray/shadow box includes his retirement flag, medals, ribbons, awards and MAA badge. The ceremony was said to be excellent, memorable, and the Chief Warrant Officer was duly surprised - his wife and children did an amazing job for him to put it all together!
Greg chose the unique low-profile trunk above and re-purposed it into his retirement shadow box and display box. He created the lifting tray/shadow box, which includes his retirement flag, medals, ribbons and awards, and then attached the stars and stripes to the inside of the bottom and under the lid to complete the trunk. Because we use "spar varnish" inside and outside this tree, he can put it under the window without fear of the sun's rays damaging the wood because the varnish we use has UV protection along with the sealant on wooden and metal surfaces. Looks great!

Above is a recently refinished antique trunk #404 that was turned into a Navy Retirement Shadow Box for a CWO4 Seal Team member after 27 years of naval service! Unique to this box is that the two lifting trays (or shadow boxes) are made sitting on top of each other as a layer. Under two trays are the different uniforms he wore during his service. Note that the first tray is positioned and displayed in such a way as to indicate the progress of the CWO4 service; the flag on the second tray was carried by that service member in all of his combat actions while in Iraq.
The over 100+ year old one-of-a-kind antique trunk number 623 was purchased from The Pirates Cave and repurposed into a "Navy Shadow Box" for a retired Senior Chief of the US Navy Seal Teams. The work is amazing and I'm sure the Headmaster will have it safely stored away in his man cave or private office for many days to display his many worthy treasures and memories!
